A vulnerability has been found in FreeBSD, NetBSD and OpenBSD (Operating System) (version now known) and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects the function pw_error of the file libutil. Format string vulnerability in pw_error function in BSD libutil library allows local users to gain root privileges via a malformed password in commands such as chpass or passwd.
