Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000 hosts allow remote attackers to cause a denial of service (unavailable connections) by sending multiple SMB SMBnegprots requests but not reading the response that is sent back.
The weakness was disclosed 12/31/2000 with Samba as not defined posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared for download at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2000-1227 since 06/29/2005. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.
