A vulnerability was found in Apache ant 1.10.8. It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is an unknown code of the component File Permission. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a privileges management vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-269. The product does not properly assign, modify, track, or check privileges for an actor, creating an unintended sphere of control for that actor. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

As mitigation for CVE-2020-1945 Apache Ant 1.10.8 changed the permissions of temporary files it created so that only the current user was allowed to access them. Unfortunately the fixcrlf task deleted the temporary file and created a new one without said protection, effectively nullifying the effort. This would still allow an attacker to inject modified source files into the build process.

The weakness was disclosed 10/01/2020 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at lists.apache.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2020-11979 since 04/21/2020. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The current price for an exploit might be approx. USD $0-$5k (estimation calculated on 01/26/2026).
