A vulnerability was found in BEA WebLogic Server 5.1 (Application Server Software) and classified as critical. This issue affects an unknown code of the component Restrictions Handler. BEA Systems WebLogic Express and WebLogic Server 5.1 SP1-SP6 allows remote attackers to bypass access controls for restricted JSP or servlet pages via a URL with multiple / (forward slash) characters before the restricted pages.
The weakness was presented 12/31/2000 by BEA Systems with BEA Systems (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at securityfocus.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2000-1238 since 11/16/2005. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available.
