Microsoft Windows Media Player 7 executes scripts in custom skin (.WMS) files, which could allow remote attackers to gain privileges via a skin that contains a malicious script, aka the ".WMS Script Execution" vulnerability.

The weakness was presented 01/09/2001 with Microsoft as MS00-090 as confirmed bulletin (Technet). The advisory is shared for download at microsoft.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2000-1112. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack needs to be approached locally. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1059.007.

The exploit is available at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. As 0-day the estimated underground price was around $25k-$100k.
