A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in Recourse Technologies ManTrap 1.6.1. This issue affects an unknown code block of the file /dev/mem of the component Utility Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a privileges management vulnerability. Recourse ManTrap 1.6 allows attackers who have gained root access to use utilities such as crash or fsdb to read /dev/mem and raw disk devices to identify ManTrap processes or modify arbitrary data files.
The weakness was released 01/09/2001 as not defined posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared at marc.theaimsgroup.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2000-1145. The exploitation is known to be easy. An attack has to be approached locally. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
