A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Secure Reality phpSecurePages. Affected is an unknown part of the file checklogin.php. The manipulation of the argument cfgProgDir with an unknown input leads to a privileges management vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-269. The product does not properly assign, modify, track, or check privileges for an actor, creating an unintended sphere of control for that actor. PHP remote file inclusion vulnerability in checklogin.php in phpSecurePages 0.24 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary PHP code by modifying the cfgProgDir parameter to reference a URL on a remote web server that contains the code.
The weakness was disclosed 02/07/2001 as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). The advisory is available at kb.cert.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2001-1468 since 04/21/2005. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. This vulnerability is assigned to T1068 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
By approaching the search of inurl:checklogin.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 10418 (phpSecurePages Included File Arbitrary Command Execution Vulnerability).
Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem.
