A vulnerability was found in GitLab Community Edition and Enterprise Edition up to 13.3.8/13.4.4/13.5.1 (Bug Tracking Software). It has been declared as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown code block of the file CE/EE of the component LFS Upload. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory.
