A vulnerability has been found in linuxconf 1.23r and classified as problematic. This vulnerability affects an unknown code block of the file vpop3d. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a symlink vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-61. The product, when opening a file or directory, does not sufficiently account for when the file is a symbolic link that resolves to a target outside of the intended control sphere. The bug was discovered 01/10/2001. The weakness was released 03/12/2001 by FIRST as not defined posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is available at marc.theaimsgroup.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2001-0143. The exploitation appears to be difficult. Local access is required to approach this attack.
