A vulnerability was found in Silverplatter WebSPIRS 3.3.1 and classified as problematic. Affected by this issue is some unknown functionality of the file webspirs.cgi. The manipulation of the argument sp.nextform with the input value .. leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Directory traversal vulnerability in WebSPIRS 3.1 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via a .. (dot dot) attack on the sp.nextform parameter.
