A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in Free Peers Bearshare 2.2/2.2.1/2.2.2. This affects some unknown functionality. The manipulation with the input value ../../ leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. Directory traversal vulnerability in BearShare 2.2.2 and earlier allows a remote attacker to read certain files via a URL containing a series of . characters, a variation of the .. (dot dot) attack.
The weakness was released 04/30/2001 by Gluck Ninja (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at archives.neohapsis.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2001-0368.
