A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in SGI IRIX 6.2 (Operating System). This issue affects an unknown code of the component netprint. The manipulation of the argument -n with an unknown input leads to a privileges management vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-269. Unknown vulnerability in netprint in IRIX 6.2, and possibly other versions, allows local users with lp privileges attacker to execute arbitrary commands via the -n option.
The issue has been introduced in 03/01/1996. The weakness was published 04/26/2001 by vade79 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at archives.neohapsis.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2001-0485. The exploitation is known to be easy. Attacking locally is a requirement. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
