A vulnerability was found in Iplanet Calendar Server up to 5.0p2 (Calendar Software) and classified as problematic. This issue affects an unknown functionality of the component LDAP Server. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cleartext storage vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-312. iPlanet Calendar Server 5.0p2 and earlier allows a local attacker to gain access to the Netscape Admin Server (NAS) LDAP database and read arbitrary files by obtaining the cleartext administrator username and password from the configuration file, which has insecure permissions.
The bug was discovered 04/18/2001. The weakness was presented 08/02/2001 as not defined posting (Bugtraq). It is possible to read the advisory at archives.neohapsis.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2001-0620. The exploitation is known to be easy. Attacking locally is a requirement. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1555 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
