A vulnerability classified as critical was found in go-ipfs up to 0.7.x. This vulnerability affects an unknown functionality of the component DAG Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
The weakness was released 03/25/2021. The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2020-26279. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim.
