A vulnerability was found in Novell GroupWise 5.5 (Groupware Software). It has been declared as problematic. This vulnerability affects an unknown part of the component WebAccess. The manipulation with the input value get / HTTP/1.0\n\n leads to a information disclosure vulnerability (Directory). The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-200. The product exposes sensitive information to an actor that is not explicitly authorized to have access to that information. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality. CVE summarizes:
GroupWise WebAccess 5.5 with directory indexing enabled allows a remote attacker to view arbitrary directory contents via an HTTP request with a lowercase "get".
The weakness was presented 08/14/2001 with GNOME as not defined posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared for download at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2001-1232. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1592.
It is declared as proof-of-concept. As 0-day the estimated underground price was around $5k-$25k.
