The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Directory traversal vulnerability in index.php in PhpMyExplorer before 1.2.1 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via a ..%2F (modified dot dot) in the chemin parameter.

The weakness was disclosed 08/29/2001 as not defined posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared for download at archives.neohapsis.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2001-1168.
