A vulnerability was found in Baltimore Technologies WEBsweeper 4.02. It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is some unknown processing of the component Blacklist Filter. Baltimore Technologies WEBsweeper 4.02, when used to manage URL blacklists, allows remote attackers to bypass blacklist restrictions and connect to unauthorized web servers by modifying the requested URL, including (1) a // (double slash), (2) a /SUBDIR/.. where the desired file is in the parentdir, (3) a /./, or (4) URL-encoded characters.
The weakness was shared 09/05/2001 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2001-1152. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.
