A vulnerability was found in Macromedia Coldfusion Server 4.x. It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown part of the component HTTP Host Handler. Example applications (Exampleapps) in ColdFusion Server 4.x do not properly restrict prevent access from outside the local host s domain, which allows remote attackers to conduct upload, read, or execute files by spoofing the "HTTP Host" (CGI.Host) variable in (1) the "Web Publish" example script, and (2) the "Email" example script.

The weakness was released 10/30/2001 (Website). The advisory is available at xforce.iss.net. This vulnerability was named CVE-2001-0535. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. This vulnerability is assigned to T1068 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 10390 (Allaire Macromedia ColdFusion Sample Application Command Execution Vulnerability).
