A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in Valicert Enterprise Validation Authority up to 4.2.1. Affected is an unknown code block of the component Certificate Description Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Cross-site scripting (CSS) vulnerability in ValiCert Enterprise Validation Authority (EVA) 3.3 through 4.2.1 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or display false information by including HTML or script in the certificate s description, which is executed when the certificate is viewed.
The weakness was disclosed 12/04/2001 as not defined posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared for download at marc.theaimsgroup.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2001-0948. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication.
