A vulnerability was found in Squid Proxy up to 2.5.STABLE10 (Firewall Software) and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is an unknown function of the component NTLM Authentication. Squid 2.5.STABLE10 and earlier, while performing NTLM authentication, does not properly handle certain request sequences, which allows attackers to cause a denial of service (daemon restart).
The bug was discovered 09/30/2005. The weakness was presented 09/30/2005 by Mike Diggins (Website). The advisory is available at squid-cache.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2005-2917 since 09/15/2005. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
