A vulnerability was found in Sun Management Center 2.0. It has been rated as problematic. This issue affects an unknown function of the file /tmp/smc$smc_port of the component smcboot. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a symlink vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-61. The product, when opening a file or directory, does not sufficiently account for when the file is a symbolic link that resolves to a target outside of the intended control sphere. This could allow an attacker to cause the product to operate on unauthorized files. Impacted is integrity. The summary by CVE is:
smcboot in Sun SMC (Sun Management Center) 2.0 in Solaris 8 allows local users to delete arbitrary files via a symlink attack on /tmp/smc$SMC_PORT.
