A vulnerability was found in Qualcomm Qpopper 4.0 and classified as problematic. This issue affects some unknown processing of the component popauth. The manipulation of the argument -trace with an unknown input leads to a symlink vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-61. The product, when opening a file or directory, does not sufficiently account for when the file is a symbolic link that resolves to a target outside of the intended control sphere. popauth utility in Qualcomm Qpopper 4.0 and earlier allows local users to overwrite arbitrary files and execute commands as the pop user via a symlink attack on the -trace file option.
