A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Macromedia JRun 2.3.3/3.0/3.1 (Programming Tool Software). This affects an unknown function of the component URL Handler. Allaire JRun 2.3.3, 3.0 and 3.1 running on IIS 4.0 and 5.0, iPlanet, Apache, JRun web server (JWS), and possibly other web servers allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files and directories by appending (1) "%3f.jsp", (2) "?.jsp" or (3) "?" to the requested URL.
The weakness was shared 12/31/2001 with Macromedia (Website). The advisory is shared at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2001-1510 since 07/14/2005. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.
