Infopop UBB.Threads 5.4 and Wired Community Software WWWThreads 5.0 through 5.0.9 allows remote attackers to upload arbitrary files by using a filename that contains an accepted extension, but ends in a different extension.
The bug was discovered 01/30/2002. The weakness was shared 05/16/2002 (Website). The advisory is shared at online.securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2002-0223. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details are unknown but an exploit is available.
