A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in OpenBSD OpenSSH up to 3.2 (Connectivity Software). Affected by this issue is the function auth_krb4_tgt of the component Kerberos/AFS Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. Buffer overflow in OpenSSH before 2.9.9, and 3.x before 3.2.1, with Kerberos/AFS support and KerberosTgtPassing or AFSTokenPassing enabled, allows remote and local authenticated users to gain privileges.
The bug was discovered 04/19/2002. The weakness was shared 05/22/2003 by Marcell Fodor (Website). The advisory is available at lists.trustix.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2002-0575.
