PVote before 1.9 allows remote attackers to change the administrative password and gain privileges by directly calling ch_info.php with the newpass and confirm parameters both set to the new password.

The bug was discovered 04/18/2002. The weakness was presented 06/18/2002 by NetWin (Website). The advisory is shared for download at online.securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2002-0589. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1068.
