A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in containerd up to 1.4.10/1.5.6 (Virtualization Software). Affected by this issue is an unknown code. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
The weakness was disclosed 10/05/2021 as GHSA-c2h3-6mxw-7mvq. The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2021-41103 since 09/15/2021.
