The default configuration of Oracle 9i Application Server 1.0.2.x running Oracle JSP or SQLJSP stores globals.jsa under the web root, which allows remote attackers to gain sensitive information including usernames and passwords via a direct HTTP request to globals.jsa.

The weakness was disclosed 07/03/2002 by NGSSoftware Insight Security Research with NGSSoftware Insight Security Research as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). The advisory is available at cert.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2002-0562. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. This vulnerability is assigned to T1592 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 10850 (Oracle 9iAS globals.jsa Database Credential Remote Disclosure), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
