A vulnerability, which was classified as very critical, has been found in Citadel UX 5.90. Affected by this issue is the function lprintf/cprintf of the file sysdep.c of the component SMTP Server. The manipulation of the argument HELO with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-119. Buffer overflow in (1) lprintf and (2) cprintf in sysdep.c of Citadel/UX 5.90 and earlier allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) and possibly execute arbitrary code via attacks such as a long HELO command to the SMTP server.
