Cross-site scripting vulnerability in signgbook.php for BG GuestBook 1.0 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary Javascript via encoded tags such as <, >, and & in fields such as (1) name, (2) email, (3) AIM screen name, (4) website, (5) location, or (6) message.
The weakness was presented 08/12/2002 by Ahmet Sabri Alper as not defined posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2002-0457. The exploitability is told to be difficult. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059.007 for this issue.
By approaching the search of inurl:signgbook.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 10523 (BG Guestbook Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability).
