A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Citrix Nfuse 1.6/1.51 (Connectivity Software). Affected by this issue is the function getLastError of the file launch.jsp of the component Error Handler. The manipulation of the argument NFuse_Application with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Cross-site scripting vulnerability in Citrix NFuse 1.6 and earlier does not quote results from the getLastError method, which allows remote attackers to execute script in other clients via the NFuse_Application parameter to (1) launch.jsp or (2) launch.asp.
The weakness was published 08/12/2002 by Eric Detoisien (Website). The advisory is shared for download at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2002-0504. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim.
