A vulnerability was found in AOL Instant Messenger 4.1 (Messaging Software) and classified as critical. This issue affects some unknown functionality of the component AddBuddy Link Handler. The manipulation of the argument ScreenName with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-119. AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) via an "AddBuddy" link with the ScreenName parameter set to a large number of comma-separated values, possibly triggering a buffer overflow.
