A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in Macromedia Flash Player up to 8.0.22.0 (Multimedia Player Software). This affects some unknown processing of the component SWF File Frame Type Identifier. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Macromedia Flash 6 and 7 (Flash.ocx) allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a SWF file with a modified frame type identifier that is used as an out-of-bounds array index to a function pointer.
The bug was discovered 11/04/2005. The weakness was published 11/05/2005 by Fang Xing with eEye Digital Security (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at macromedia.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2005-2628 since 08/19/2005. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available.
