A vulnerability has been found in iText up to 7.1.16 and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown functionality of the file GhostscriptHelper.java of the component iTextPDF. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a command injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-77. iTextPDF in iText 7 and up to (excluding 4.4.13.3) 7.1.17 allows command injection via a CompareTool filename that is mishandled on the gs (aka Ghostscript) command line in GhostscriptHelper.java.
The weakness was disclosed 12/15/2021. The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2021-43113 since 11/01/2021. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. This vulnerability is assigned to T1202 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
