Buffer overflow in pks PGP public key web server before 0.9.5 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) and possibly execute arbitrary code via a long search argument to the lookup capability.
The bug was discovered 05/24/2002. The weakness was presented 10/04/2002 as not defined posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is available at online.securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2002-0900. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation.
