A vulnerability classified as critical was found in Funsoft Dinos Webserver 2.1 (Web Server). This vulnerability affects an unknown part of the component Encoded URL Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Encoded directory traversal vulnerability in Dino s web server 2.1 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via ".." (dot dot) sequences with URL-encoded (1) "/" (%2f") or (2) "\" (%5c) characters.
The bug was discovered 09/23/2002. The weakness was released 10/04/2002 as not defined posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared for download at marc.theaimsgroup.com.
