The Web Reports Server for SurfControl SuperScout WebFilter stores the "scwebusers" username and password file in a web-accessible directory, which allows remote attackers to obtain valid usernames and crack the passwords.
The weakness was shared 10/01/2002 by Matt Moore with WESTPOINT as not defined posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared for download at marc.theaimsgroup.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2002-0705. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication.
