A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in Linux Kernel up to 5.16-rc1 (Operating System). Affected is the function bpf_map_update_elem of the file kernel/bpf/syscall.c of the component ebpf Verifier. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a race condition vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-362. The product contains a code sequence that can run concurrently with other code, and the code sequence requires temporary, exclusive access to a shared resource, but a timing window exists in which the shared resource can be modified by another code sequence that is operating concurrently. This is going to have an impact on integrity.
The weakness was released 01/22/2022. The advisory is available at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2021-4001 since 11/22/2021. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
