A vulnerability was found in SGI IRIX (Operating System). It has been classified as problematic. Affected is the function Safe::reval/Safe::rdo of the file Safe.pm of the component Jail. The manipulation of the argument @_ with an unknown input leads to a privileges management vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-269. Safe.pm 2.0.7 and earlier, when used in Perl 5.8.0 and earlier, may allow attackers to break out of safe compartments in (1) Safe::reval or (2) Safe::rdo using a redefined @_ variable, which is not reset between successive calls.
The bug was discovered 11/05/2002. The weakness was disclosed 11/05/2002 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at bugs6.perl.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2002-1323. The exploitability is told to be easy. The attack needs to be approached locally. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication.
