A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in Linux Kernel up to 5.16.4 (Operating System). This issue affects the function yam_siocdevprivate of the file drivers/net/hamradio/yam.c. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory leak vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-401. The product does not sufficiently track and release allocated memory after it has been used, which slowly consumes remaining memory. Impacted is availability.
The weakness was released 02/11/2022 as 29eb31542787e1019208a2e1047bb7c76c069536. The advisory is shared at github.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2022-24959 since 02/11/2022. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.
