Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 through 6.0 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) via a Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) with the p{cssText} element declared and a bold font weight.
The issue has been introduced in 07/08/2000. The weakness was presented 12/31/2002 as not defined posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared for download at online.securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2002-1705 since 06/21/2005. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1499.
