A vulnerability has been found in TinyHTTPD 0.1.0 (Web Server) and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown functionality of the component URL Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Directory traversal vulnerability in TinyHTTPD 0.1 .0 allows remote attackers to read or execute arbitrary files via a ".." (dot dot) in the URL.
The bug was discovered 11/11/2002. The weakness was disclosed 12/31/2002 by Vade 79 (Website). The advisory is available at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2002-1819 since 06/29/2005. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1006 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
