ZoneAlarm Pro 3.0 and 3.1, when configured to block all traffic, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (CPU and memory consumption) via a large number of SYN packets (SYN flood). NOTE: the vendor was not able to reproduce the issue.

The weakness was presented 12/31/2002 by Lincoln (Website). The advisory is shared at securityfocus.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2002-1911 since 06/29/2005. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
