Details
A vulnerability has been found in Icecast 1.3.12 and classified as problematic. This vulnerability affects the function list_directory of the component GET Request Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality. CVE summarizes:
Directory traversal vulnerability in the list_directory function in Icecast 1.3.12 allows remote attackers to determine if a directory exists via a .. (dot dot) in the GET request, which returns different error messages depending on whether the directory exists or not.
The weakness was shared 12/31/2002 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2002-1982 since 06/29/2005.
