The manipulation of the argument RCPT TO with an unknown input leads to a resource consumption vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-400. Floositek FTGate PRO 1.05 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (memory and CPU consumption) via a large number of RCPT TO: messages during an SMTP session.

The bug was discovered 04/03/2002. The weakness was disclosed 12/31/2002 (Website). The advisory is available at archives.neohapsis.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2002-2080 since 07/14/2005. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely.
