A vulnerability was found in SurfControl Superscout Email Filter 3.5.1. It has been rated as critical. This issue affects some unknown functionality of the component SMTP Proxy. SurfControl SuperScout Email filter for SMTP 3.5.1 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) via a long SMTP (1) HELO or (2) RCPT TO command, possibly due to a buffer overflow.
The bug was discovered 03/09/2002. The weakness was presented 12/31/2002 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at marc.theaimsgroup.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2002-2121 since 08/05/2005. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely.
