Details
A vulnerability was found in Pedestal Integrity Protection Driver up to 1.2 (Hardware Driver Software) and classified as problematic. This issue affects an unknown functionality of the file \Device\PhysicalMemory. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a symlink vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-61. The product, when opening a file or directory, does not sufficiently account for when the file is a symbolic link that resolves to a target outside of the intended control sphere. This could allow an attacker to cause the product to operate on unauthorized files. Impacted is integrity. The summary by CVE is:
Integrity Protection Driver (IPD) 1.2 and earlier blocks access to \Device\PhysicalMemory by its name, which could allow local privileged processes to overwrite kernel memory by accessing the device through a symlink.
