This issue affects an unknown functionality of the component aim URL Handler. The manipulation of the argument META HTTP-EQUIV with the input value refresh leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Cross-site scripting vulnerability AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) 4.5 and 4.7 for MacOS and Windows allows remote attackers to conduct unauthorized activities, such as adding buddies and groups to a user s buddy list, via a URL with a META HTTP-EQUIV="refresh" tag to an aim: URL.
