isakmpd/message.c in isakmpd in FreeBSD before isakmpd-20020403_1, and in OpenBSD 3.1, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) by sending Internet Key Exchange (IKE) payloads out of sequence.
The weakness was shared 12/31/2002 with Avaya as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). The advisory is shared for download at kb.cert.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2002-2222 since 02/26/2007. The exploitation appears to be difficult. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation.
