A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in Phorum 3.3.2a (Forum Software). Affected by this issue is an unknown code of the file read.php. The manipulation of the argument t/body with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-79. Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in read.php in Phorum 3.3.2a allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via (1) the t parameter or (2) the body of an email response.
The weakness was disclosed 12/31/2002 (Website). The advisory is available at marc.theaimsgroup.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2002-2340 since 10/29/2007. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. By approaching the search of inurl:read.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 10725 (Phorum Reply Email Address Script Injection Vulnerability).
